Disambiguation: Psiconautas is a name shared by a puertorican and an uruguayan band. Puerto Rico: http://www.myspace.com/psiconautas Psiconautas was born in 1995. What influences their music comes from contact with other musicians of different genres, surrealism and other alternate realities. Also bands like Hawkwind, Pink Floyd, Sonic Youth, Bauhaus, Joy Division, Add (n) to (x), The Velvet Underground, Mercury Rev among others form part of their favorites list. The band started as a partnership between Lester Mon and Toño Galaxia, both pioneers of the Puerto Rican punk rock who took part in early musical movements that lead to the expansion and diversification of the local scene. In 2003 Raymond Rivera aka “Gadget” joined the crew, another pioneer but this time in the electronic genre. They edit under the Mushroom Demo Tapes label which originally released Lester Mon's early Lo-Fi work. The band is considered one of the premier independent offerings of Puerto Rico and for years has contributed to the development of a true "underground scene" in the country. They are considered the Island's first cult band thanks in part to their shows which mix the performance with the event image projections and psychedelia. Their sporadic live appearances serve as meeting place for people with common interests, which look to navigate rhythms in order to harmonize the interior and exterior space.
