Project 549 is the collaboration of Scott McAndrew and Randy Schnier, two musicians from Madison, Wisconsin and Rochester, Minnesota in the United States. The band's name is a somewhat humorous commentary on the plethora of bands that have "project" in their name. The style of Project 549 is instrumental recordings of popular Christmas songs, played on a wide variety of instruments including synthesizers, acoustic and electric guitars, acoustic and electronic percussion, and various other toys. They have been compared to the Christmas recordings by Mannheim Steamroller, but with more of a rock/techno feel.
