Private School was a Canadian punk band from Vancouver, British Columbia. The band formed in 1977 originally as an Art School band and it had a few rotating members including Tony Bardach on bass (Pointed Sticks) and Reed Urchuck on keyboard (Exxotone, the Shades, Obelinskis). Finally settled on the above lineup and played most of the Rock Against (Prisons, Nuclear Arms, etc) as well as New Wave showcases with D.O.A., Pointed Sticks, Subhumans, Dishrags, etc. Opened for The Police’s first North American tour in 1979. Creative differences lead to a breakup in the fall of 1979 and early 1980. Nelson and Maddy went on to form “The Singing Cowboys”, “Magic Dragon”, “Courage of Lassie”, Clay formed “Warsaw” in 1980 and “PAZ” (electronic worlbeat) in 1982, Makaroff joined “PAZ” after his ska band “The Invaders” imploded and Gregg joined the notorius “D.O.A.”.
