In 2003 a set of solo lo-fi recordings by vocalist/guitarist Iain Beggs was picked up by Herotech management. This led to the subsequent formation of a full live outfit, the potential of which was finally realised when a complex web of coincidental relationships brought in Matt Brown on guitar, Tim Rooney on Bass and Clint Henderson on a (left-handed) drum kit. Postcards From Dead Stars was born kicking and screaming. All proven and experienced musicians, the young 4 piece from London developed a raw and insistent sound that paid homage to the likes of Sleater-Kinney, Talking Heads, the Smiths, the Cure and Slint amongst a more general 'emo' background. "Iain's vocals slip back and forth between calm and violence. The band's live act sees delicately strung together melodies punctuated with searing slashes of sophistopunkrock, always retaining an insatiable appetite for a good hook."
