PostaLowa was a band from Norwich, UK. Their Line-Up was ever-changeable, but core members Mark Jennings (Ovahead, Master Solo, Giant Robot & The City of Tokyo, Tell Me How, Sukoshi) and JB (Tiger MCs, the MQProjects record label) were present from the band's scratchy beginnings in 1997, right through to eventual (amicable) disbandment in 2006. Charlene Katuwawala (Tell Me How, Kat'n'Kowala) played bass on all but the very first recording. PostaLowa's music was never constricted by genre, but the band christened the term 'mid-fi' as a general description of their sound. (In)famous for their shambolic live shows, the band toured sparingly. There is a strong legacy, however, in terms of recordings: 1999: 'Ola' EP - mostly-improvised at The Sickroom Studios - additional players included Elissa Ross and Tim Wilton. 'Ola' included PostaLowa's first single: '17,000,000 Waltzes', which was released on SGC in 2000. 2000: 'Everything That Connects You' LP - another sickroom recording, more song-based. Includes the quintessential 'John Wilson Lightbeam Ponytrek'. 2002: 'A Little Proof/How I Learned To Fight' 7" - second 7" release on SGC... more shoegazey/poppy than earlier work. 2003: 'To See It' LP - PostaLowa's finest and most eclectic offering. includes the epic 'Note To Self' and single 'Why So Grrrl?'.
