Artist
Teamed with the catchy, in-ya-face melodies, one thing is clear: Portobella make songs with balls. The band came togetherwith a desire to make a record that sounded British in the traditions of some of the classic post punk acts. They have been influenced by a wide range of music over the years, including Police, Blondie, Transvision Vamp, Sex Pistols, The Jam, N*E*R*D & Roxy Music and Goldfrapp. Tired of formulaic safe pop, the product of endless Pop Idol and Fame Academy type shows, they felt that it was time for something different. They have fused their musical backgrounds and influences and created a sound that incorporates electroclash synths with pop melodies and punk guitars. Inspired by their time spent together at London clubs like NagNagNag and Trash they sought to make music for this scene and take it on a stage further.
