There are at least two artists named Portman: 1. Portman is an experimental/indie/post rock band from Našice, Croatia. Formed in 2004 as a metal band, after a lot of experimenting, the band produced their unique sound in instrumental rock. After Demo 2006., in 2009 they recorded their first official album, Pereskesije, that consists of ten original songs and one cover (Children by Robert Miles). Portman released their second album, The Man Who Carries a Light, in October 2013. Portman grew out of the ashes of pop punk band Dutch*Oven from Stamford, UK in February '04. In the two years since then playing gigs here and there up and down the county has developed the band, and with this the bands sound has grown and matured into a sort of piano driven melodic pop rock. With souring harmonies, and sprinkling tinkling guitars. Often compared to the likes of Copeland and Something Corporate. The band have started on the road to establishing themselves with the release of their debut 7 track EP ‘This is me breathing’ receiving good reviews so far. The EP was recorded with the utmost care and affection by Ben Toulson and entirely produced by Portman. It effectively celebrates the bands progression in the last two years as well as giving them a clear reference to come back to. Portman are booked into ‘ATOMIC STUDIOS’
