There are at least 2 artists that share the name of Poolpo: 1. Poolpo is a rock band (in essence) created at the end of the year 2006 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, with the simple purpose of making music to satisfy the artistic needs of the band members. The band's name came from a dream that one of the members had, in which he imagined he was happily playing in a band by the name of Pulpo. Because the name Pulpo was already taken, the group decided to call itself Poolpo. The sound of the band is boosted by the desire to play something that fulfills the band member's requirements without following the pre-established music formula of what good music should be. If it is good for Poolpo, it's more than enough. The band is formed by musicians of renamed active and disappeared bands of the Dominican Republic rock scene. 2. Joseph, nicknamed Poulpo (in English) or Poolpo (in French), born 1986, is a French beatboxer. In 2007, he was a participant in Nouvelle Star (the French version of Pop Idol, shown by M6). As one of the first beatboxers to show up on a major TV show in the country, it was quite a sensation, and the video of his routine on that show became heavily viewed on Youtube and uploaded to many video-sharing websites.
