Poke 20 is the sequel to the C64 Orchestra project in which a classical orchestra played arranged Commodore 64 game music form the eighties. In Poke 20, the C64 Orchestra version of 'Monty ON the Run' is returned to mainly electronic musicians to make their own remix versions. Thus making the circle complete: from electronic 8-bit, to orchestra and back. The result: Twenty-one musicians from around the globe made a remix of 'Monty ON the Run'. All musicians agreed to release their remix under a Creative Commons BY-NC-SA license. This makes it free to download, copy and distribute these tracks, as long as you mention the artist's name and the license and don't use their work commercially. With a.o.: Team Doyobi (UK/YP), Arno Peeters (NL), Garcon Taupe (NL), Xaf (HU), Raoul Sinier (FR). The artwork: designers of Ontwerpatelier chose for a special approach by remixing the imagery supplied by the remixers. The result is a poster which, when folded, becomes the cover of a blank cd-r. The poster and cd-r are both silkscreened en together they make an interesting art object in a limited (and numbered) edition of 200 copies. Everybody can order a limited poster/cd-cover (10 euro excluding shipping) and burn their favourite Poke 20 tracks onto the cd-r, making it their own personal piece of art.
