about

What would be the sound of lounge, drum and base and hip hop if it had been invented in one of the countries closed behind the iron courtain in the 70s and 80s? Plazmatikon is a unique SoundSystem. Their music is suspended in the present time but feels comfortable in the climates of broken beat, lounge, nu jazz, avant and is performed in improvised form on instruments made in ZSRR, NRD, PRL. Plazmatikon puts together elements of clubbing and experimental improvisation. Musicians use beat machines and synthesizers manufactured by legendary Soviet “Elektronika”, East-German “Vermona” and Polish “Unitra”. The listener is given a unique chance to know how modern music would sound 20-30 years ago.” The band is permanently on tour. This summer, during the cross-cultural meeting Plazmatikon, had unique chance to cooperate with famous jazz and klezmer artitsts (known from many projects incl. John Zorn’s), such as Paul Brody, Frank London, Michael Alpert, Stuart Brotman. They performed at the J Mazzol's "Art Depot” festival and recently at the Free Form Festival before the Coldcut duo.
