One thing is for sure, if you ask either one of them, the 2 main things that Plata & Salud have in common is their love of War-Gaming and especially their love of fat chicks. Plata & Salud met during the Group North air disaster that happened on 7 December, 1987, when a plane carrying the entire Group North War Gaming squad , plus members of the cheer squad and the other people who cheat at War Gaming because they want to win, crashed into the sea by Glenelg, some six miles from the intended destination, the Adelaide Airport in South Australia killing everyone on board except two War Gamers and the pilot. In all, 43 people died. The team was returning from a match against Adelaide Gamers Association for the Peruvian War Games Championship at the time of the crash. The match was won 47-46, with Plata scoring the winning game. The crash was tragic in War Gaming history since Group North was then in first place of the league. Although it was close to the end of the championship, Group North and the participating clubs did not cut the tournament short. Group North finished the championship with retired players, like Gary Olive and Greg Small, with youngsters and a few players on loan from Games Workshop. Three people initially survived the crash: Plata Pérez, Salud Mendoza, and pilot Edilberto Villar.
