In just over a year PLANETS IN THE OCEAN has surged onto the Seattle music scene, defying their short timeline with a potent mix of experience and innovation. Robb Benson (vocals/guitar), a familiar name from previous bands like Dear John Letters and Stereo Embers, reunited with longtime collaborator Cassady Laton (drums) and Gwon Chang (bass) to create a dynamic power trio. Summer 2022 marked their fresh start, inspired by two decades of Indie rock. Studio engineer Chris Hill beckoned them to Robert Lang Studios, intending to record one song. However, the magic was undeniable, leading to a second track, "Decisions," and Kevin Younkins' expert touch in mixing and mastering. Their live debut in Seattle garnered instant enthusiasm, mirrored in their experimental home recordings, culminating in their debut EP, "Holiday Daydream." Airplay on local radio stations affirmed their arrival. The momentum surged as they returned to Robert Lang Studios with Kevin Younkins, releasing "Perspective," an EP showcasing their boundless creativity. Their swift rise landed them on "Local with Louise," syndicated on five Northwest stations. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
