Plainwords was a short-lived crust/doom/post punk band from Louisville, KY, USA. Originally starting as a 3 piece with Austin Lunn (Panopticon, Anagnorisis) on drums and vocals, Andrew Turner (Kodan Armada) on bass and vocals, and Jeremy Fitzgerald (Samsa) on guitar and vocals, the earlier songs the band wrote were faster than anything that has been released. With the addition of Crow (Wheels Within Wheels) on second guitar, the doom/post punk elements of their songs were further explored. Bekah Chapman provided visual media during a majority of their performances. Lyrical topics covered child welfare, the members' disillusionment with organized religion, the animal and earth liberation struggles, the anarchist victory in Catalonia, the collapse of Western society, and the reclamation of Earth by Nature long after the human species is extinct. The 5 members were openly vegan anarchists and heathens and encouraged discussion amongst themselves and with people they met. In its brief lifespan, the band played shows with bands such as Misery Index, Wolves in the Throne Room, This Time Tomorrow, Backstabbers Inc, Nachtmystium, Half Gorilla, Daisycutter, Karloff, and played the second day of Chicago Apocalyptic Crustfest 2. Two official releases were put out, although only one has seen the light of day. "Overgrow to Overthrow" was a 3 song EP, and "A New World In the Ashes of..." was going to be part one of a two part album but the band broke up before the second part could be
