Hi. We are a four-piece hardcore punk band rooted in the political D.I.Y. underground. Hailing from Graz, Austria, we like to write heavy rock songs, play live and tour, which we’ve done a lot since we formed The Plague Mass early in 2004 right after our old band Pledge Alliance had called it quits. Our band’s name is a metaphor for the world the human race has created in the name and in honor of their gods – a world where everybody fucks everybody else over and where the importance of individual wants and needs is determined according to productivity and purchasing power. The majority is held hostage by a few who claim to be the legal – that is, legal according to their laws – representatives of the supposedly ultimate and most liberal way of living together possible. Democracy is in our best interest. That’s why we need cops to protect it – and consequently us – from ourselves. We would kill each other if it wasn’t for them, wouldn’t we? Wait a minute…don’t governments usually declare wars and execute people? We all play by their rules, which are largely based on post-Christian morality, as we try to be “realistic” and “change the system from within”. We tend to forget that there is something fundamentally wrong with people having power over people in general, be it in the name of any given God or people. Most of us have accepted a world without God. The next step is accept that there’s no such thing as “peoples” either and quit living our lives in the name of such arb
