Rock band from New York, released a s/t album in 1988. It’s January of 1985, I (guitarist Joe Chinnici) just turned 20, and it’s time to become a rock star. So, what do I do? I call my high school music buddies, Mike DeMita, Dave Bjelke (later replaced by Bill McIntyre) and Sam Mastandrea (later replaced by Jamie Lee), and I name the band in honor of the first rock and roll song I ever wrote, “Pipe Dreams”. Here we go, we’re gonna be stars! Pipe Dreams was a local favorite on the Long Island, New York rock scene. Two years after their start (and with a few band member changes), Pipe Dreams started work on their very first album. Lots of practice, numerous gigs and writing “new” songs solidified Pipe Dreams as a band that was headed straight to the top of their game. The album shows a band that took their craft and sound to serious levels of professionalism. The sound on this release is top-notch and the recording of the tracks were given serious thought and consideration as there was also deep consideration for the physical release of this product for the fans. On April 30th, 1988, Pipe Dreams released their album and celebrated with a show at February’s in Elmont, New York. While the self-titled debut album contained only 9 songs, this 2026 release has been updated with 2 live tracks from their record release party.
