Formed 2001 Split 2003 Paul Broome: Guitars, Programming, Vocals, Music Natasha Blanco-Dominguez: Vocals, Lyrics, Music In mid-2001, after 3 years and 3 albums, the three-piece project Fluid Power Society closed-up shop. Two of the members were left with the name, the material, and the option of carrying on the mantle. After a little thought, they decided to leave the Society behind and begin afresh. Pihr was the result. Paul and Natasha's ambition with Pihr was to write striking, captivating music and lyrics - record them with the full array of tools and techniques that modern home recording allows. But to perform them live in a completely stripped down fashion: just plain old guitar (electric or acoustic) and voice. The debut self-released album Reborn was the first evidence of their trials - and featured tracks which showcased the full spectrum of the Pihr sound, from the lament of 'Broken Promises' to the toe-tapping dark pop of 'Coming to Get You'. The album was greeted with a host of favourable reviews, most focusing on the angelic qualities of Natasha's vocals. Early comparisons ranged from Kate Bush to Sneaker Pimps, via Pink Floyd, All About Eve, Peter Gabriel, Dead Can Dance, and Curve... which really proves nothing but a lack of suitable existing comparisons!
