Artist
Phylum Sinter is the pseudonym of Detroit-Based musician Christopher Todd, used to release his Experimental Electronic music. Inside, the audience is encouraged to do something... anything really -- as this is the very definition of Phylum Sinter: a species intended to be used as fuel, compressed and sintered into the listener's being. On the surface, one can expect a blend of glitch-friendly beats, custom DSP fiddling, classically-slanted melodies, and the occasional pop hook. C. Todd has been exploring the connection between sound and imagery since 2001, and has contributed tracks to many compilations, various free EP's through his official page, netlabels, and various small press labels. Occasionally he posts works in progress on his myspace page, but these versions rarely reflect the final tracks, as he has described the process of writing "one of endless revision, expansion and recursion on all levels of my self". Online or off, he is always available for collaboration in any form, and is prone to discussions concerning the interplay of senses and the motives behind creative output. His First official release Binary Composition (originally from 2003) was recently returned to the artist by the now defunct 'Electronische Isique' label, and has been remastered and re-released in part on a short run of hand-printed cdrs sold during a 2006 tour as 'Exclusive Remasters 2002-2006'. His latest official work -- not including remixes -- was the track "Shadow Codex" on
