Phil’s voice is as big as his ukulele is small, and his love of blues, hokum, jug band and jazz shines through in his intricate picking and driving rhythms. Known as one of the leading lights of the ’3rd wave’ of the ukulele (as well as being no slouch on guitar and lap steel), Phil travels all over the UK performing and leading workshops at festivals, theatres, clubs and events. He has appeared on several albums, performed on BBC radio and TV, and shared the stage with some of the world’s finest players. “One of the most talented players in the UK” Ken Middleton, Ohana Ukuleles Phil has performed at The London Uke Fest (2009), The Ukulele Festival of Great Britain (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014), A Grand Northern Ukulele Festival (2013), The Acoustic Festival of Britain (2009, 2010, 2011 & 2012), Bearded Theory Festival, 80’s Rewind Festival (2010 Henley and 2011 Scotland), Off The Tracks Festival (2008, 2009 and 2012) and many, many theatre and club venues such as Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham O2 Academies, Blackpool Grand Theatre, King George’s Hall Blackburn, Theater im Stall Neu Horst Germany, Derby Assembly Rooms, The Dukes Theatre Lancaster, Parr Hall Warrington… As well as appearing on 5 albums as half of rock uke duo The Re-entrants, he has also recorded as a solo artist, in a duo with Ian Emmerson and as a member of (almost) chart-topping novelty act 4-4-2. He has performed live on various BBC regional radio stations, and been broadcast on BBC TV, Radio 4
