Artist
Phantom, Rocker & Slick was a short-lived project that joined two former Stray Cats with longtime hired-gun guitarist Earl Slick. With the Stray Cats' career in decline and personal tensions on the rise, Brian Setzer chose to disband the Cats in late 1984. Bass player Lee Rocker and drummer Slim Jim Phantom united with Slick and blended the rockabilly stylings of the Stray Cats with a bit of Slick's glam rock muscle, releasing a self-titled debut album in late 1985. Despite mixed reviews among critics, Phantom, Rocker and Slick remained on the U.S. charts for almost six months and the band managed to make a slight impact at rock radio, where the bruising track "Men Without Shame" went Top Ten. The release of the Cover Girl album in 1986 would elicit little interest and the group parted ways soon afterwards.
