Peter Kovacs is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from San Diego, CA known for emotive vocals, somber lyrics, and rich melodies. Critics have described his music as "somewhere between the style of Todd Snider and the passion of Whiskeytown." Kovacs was raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He took up the piano at 6, the guitar at age 12 and began writing songs two years later. In 1995, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, signed to Blank Etc. Records and released the EP Let Us Have Music For Singing. After touring in support of the EP, Kovacs moved to San Diego, California in 1997 and began recording a series of diverse albums. California (1997), Out Of My Head (1998), Bigger Than God (1999), That Was Then This Is Now (2000), My World (2001), 10 New Messages (2002), Nut Magnet (2003) and Luckiest Man Alive (2004) were all recorded in Steve Goodie's Santa Monica, California studio. The mid 2000s found him producing and recording other artists including Harve Mann, Ashley Usrey and Clay Thomas. In 2008, he built a studio in San Diego and subsequently released Peter Kovacs (2009), Remains With Me (2015) and Upside Down (2018). Kovacs has recently been involved in recording and performing with acts including Will Rice, Grim Imperials, Drag Superior and 16.
