Artist
Born in Naples in 1940, Peppino Gagliardi achieved his first success in 1963 with "T'amo e t'amerò" ("I love you and will love you"). Later on he took part in the festival of San Remo several times during the 60's and the early 70's, and in 1965 he also starred in the TV movie "008 Operazione ritmo", featuring Gianni Morandi, Bobby Solo and other popular artists of that time. Most of Gagliardi's songs, characterized by an intense romantic atmosphere and reminding Neapolitanian tradition, were composed by the singer himself with co-writer Amendola. His particular style of performing gained him the nickname "The Italian Aznavour". User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
