Penny Racer's Last Journey (often referred to as Penny Racer's or PRLJ) are an Alternative Rock band from Luton, England which formed in 2005. The band are known for their energetic live performances and have played sporadically around the UK since their formation. In 2006, they released the EP Beard-Free & Exciting which was recorded at The Enid composer 'Robert John Godfrey's studio in Northampton, England. Between 2008 and 2010, the band built their own recording studio and recorded the album Fierce Grin. This was released in September 2010. Over the years, the band have been compared to such bands as Fugazi, Blur, Cardiacs, XTC, Sonic Youth and Pink Floyd. The band themselves have been less specific about their musical influences in the past, but do cite the philosophies of underground bands such as Cardiacs and Fugazi as inspirations.
