Both DJ Fhilthy Phil And Skinny Jean Julien aka Phillip Strellchuk & Julian Mehu were born and raised in New York City in the early 80's…They were first introduced to one another through their work, being apart of whats now left of the NYC after hours club circuit, ( Phillip being a minimal house DJ and Julian the former manager of HK Night Club and a few other venues previous to that). To both of their surprises they soon found out just how much they had in common and strangely realized how their paths had all ways been on the cusp of crossing through their very similar crazy youth upbringings in New York City. The two knew nothing of one another prior to 2009 but after comparing their childhood memories you come to think these two were living out their lives exactly parallel to one another without even knowing it. Julian and Phillip soon after becoming friends decided to start their group Peanut Butter & Jelly in early 2009… They adopted the name Peanut Butter & Jelly from the adaptation of their first initials P&J. To no great surprise they both share a very witty, yet dark sense of humor, which is clearly reflected and represented in their experimental and edgy music… Ranging from electro pop,indie rock, old school hip hop, minimal house and trip hop, this fusion has given birth to an unmistakeable and original sound of their own.
