Artist
Peach Cobbler was a transatlantic collaboration between New York-based Sue Garner and Rick Brown (both of Run On and Fish & Roses) and the French duo of Dominique Grimaud and Monique Alba (both of Video Aventures), which resulted in the 1995 album Georgia Peach on the Ajax label of Chicago. It was a subdued, fragmented approximation of delta blues - including takes on songs by Blind Blake, Skip James, Reverend Gary Davis, Robert Johnson and others - flecked with 'concrète' elements in the form of found vocal bits and tape manipulation, making for intimate, internally logical miniatures that seem to pay homage more to blues mythology than to a repertory of standards. It would predict some of Grimaud's subsequent re-inventions of American roots music recorded as Grimo.
