Artist
Paul Simpson is one of the founding members of The Teardrop Explodes, having helped Cope and Co on their way he left the band to form The Wild Swans. Their first record, Revolutionary Spirit was met with high praise and is generally considered to be the best record released by the independent Zoo label. In the early 1980's Simpson formed Care with Ian Broudie and released the singles Flaming Sword and My Boyish Days. The band split having produced many songs but no album appeared. In the late 80s Simpson reformed The Wild Swans and signed with Sire to release the albums Bringing Home The Ashes and Space Flower. Having received only measured success with these releases, the band went their separate ways. Simpson concentrated on his solo work, performing instrumental pieces under the name Skyray. It wasn't until 2009 that Simpson reformed The Wild Swans with The Coldest Winter For A Hundred Years following two years later. The album was met with critical success and was released again in 2013 as a limited vinyl edition.
