Artist
There are two artists named Patrick Burke with scrobbles on Last.fm. (1) Patrick Burke was a member of the cult post punk unit Parasites Of The Western World. Burke released his solo LP "Silence and Timing" in 1981. Silence And Timing may refrain from some of the balls out avant rock maneuvers heard on POTWW's recently reissued album on Destijl, but it's a knockout in its own less overt way; Burke's idiomatic boundary blur in this instance being between dreamy psych and melancholic post punk, with passing overtones of both Brian Sands and Gignoux's The Broadway Boys, though this has got a darker overall cast than either of those. (2) Patrick Burke composes visceral, emotionally charged music for chamber ensemble, orchestra, vocals, and electronic media. Formally tight, narrative structures are balanced with lyricism and a dream-like logic that is often inspired by film. He is a co-founder and core member of NOW Ensemble, a young group on the forefront of the indie-classical scene “suggesting the shape of the sounds that will define art music in the early part of this new century" (Ed Montgomery, Context Studios). Patrick’s works have been performed by the Minnesota Orchestra, the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble, eighth blackbird, the Yale Philharmonic, the Eugene Contemporary Chamber Ensemble, IonSound Project and Alia Musica. In 2007, Patrick composed the score for Behind Forgotten Eyes, an award-winning WWII documentary featured on History Channel Asia. His music appear
