Artist
Pappa Bear (born Godwijn June Orlando Ray Rollocks, also known as June Rollocks, in the 20th century in Curaçao, Netherlands Antilles) is a Dutch rapper. Born on the Netherlands Antilles, Pappa Bear began his professional career as a chef, completing his apprenticeship as top of his class and eventually becoming a head chef. In the early 1990s, he assisted his sister, Daisy Rollocks, better known as Daisy Dee, in producing her music, and later joined the group Black Male, with whom he released three songs. In 1996, Pappa Bear signed with the record label Booya Music, founded by Toni Cottura, Bülent Aris, and Holger Storm, which promoted artists such as Nana, A.K.-S.W.I.F.T., and Mark Wahlberg (Marky Mark) and produced acts including the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC. Initially appearing as a guest rapper on Nana’s tracks and helping promote his debut album, Pappa Bear released in autumn 1997, together with Jan van der Toorn, a cover of the Kool & the Gang classic "Cherish," which became an international hit. In spring 1998, he followed up with "When the Rain Begins to Fall," again in collaboration with van der Toorn. His debut album "What’s My Name" was released in May 1998. The third single from the album, "Hunny Luv," also featured van der Toorn on the chorus. A second album planned for 2000 was never released due to the dissolution of Booya Music. A track titled "Wunderful Life" was circulated online, but Pappa Bear largely remained inactive in the music scene afterward. I
