Emerging from the small yet strong music community of Perth, Western Australia, Paper Plains are a quartet of friends displaying talent and a hard-working ethos in equal measures to produce a refreshing sound and continuing the local trend of punching above their weight. From humble roots as an acoustic duo, Paper Plains have expanded both musically and in members with Dave and Jess joining on drums and bass respectively mid way through 2013. Each member brings their own unique influences and style, which when combined produces powerful music with Punk, Rock and Pop elements in healthy doses which can only be described as refreshing and unique. Their short career has seen them open for Australian punk juggernauts The Smith Street Band, Adelaide folk rocker and Hard-Aches front man Ben David, local heroes Grim Fandango and playing numerous venues from Geraldton in the North, to Bunbury in the South. Last year saw them participate in the 5-way acoustic/folk split “Welcome To Splitsville” with Jay Stevens (Jay Wars), Josh Durno, Brad Stevens and Cameron J Davidson, as well as record their debut release “Anaestalgia” with Tom “Tone” Ware of Grim Fandango fame. With an early 2014 release date and a National tour in the works, the future looks bright for this group of lowly lads and lass.
