Home is where the hatred is. Papa Brittle is a UK based foursome at the forefront of hard driven, hard hitting music that they have tagged Polemic Beat Poetry. They are also the purveyors of one of the most captivating and scathing live shows currently on offer. After a year of touring and recording, they are back with a nasty wonderful jagged slab of a single, Economic Warzone, lifted from the forthcoming and appropriately titled album Polemic Beat Poetry. This new material is harder, yet far more varied than anything the band has produced to date, veering from the sinister track Stresskiller On The Loose to the funking groove of I Am Mulatto. The current line-up has been in existence since the band released their first ever vinyl, the conscience bending Obey, Consume Marry and Reproduce mini album on Chumbawumba's Agit-Prop label in 1992. The band line-up is: Lloyd Sparks, lyricist and ranter/occasional singer; Simon Goodwin and Ian Davenport, both responsible for PB's trademark crazy loud guitars and seismic bottom end; fourth member Martin Steib is the outfit's beat purveyor and conspires with Ian in committing audio larceny (the current musical crime of sampling). Obey... marked the band out amongst all lovers of a substantial, techno-edged metallic drive with its tarmac-levelling rhythms, disturbing samples and overt sense of frustration at the state of the world.
