Angie Kuzma is a singer, guitarist, and classically trained violinist born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Shortly after she moved to Portland in the fall of 2007, she met Justin Ready (singer and guitarist of the experimental Americana band Pigeons) at a music store where she was trying out amps and pedals for her violin. Ready asked her to join the project and the two became fast friends. At this time, Angie had just begun playing guitar and writing her first songs. In the spring of 2009, at the suggestion of her friends, she gathered fellow musicians and formed Petoskey. She is heavily influenced by recollections of her childhood in Michigan, naming the project after the northern city along Lake Michigan. Her musical influences stem from Tyrannosaurus Rex, Belle and Sebastian, Vetiver, Devendra Banhart, Scout Niblett, and Jana Hunter. Petoskey is a 6 piece pop-folk band that hails from Portland, Oregon. The project includes Angie Kuzma on guitar and vocals, Justin Ready on electric guitar, Jason Drost on drums, and Lauren Vidal on cello.
