Persrock is a Swiss/Persian band founded in Zurich, Switzerland in 2012 by Farzad Alipur. Persrock’s idea was initially a university project for Farzad at the Zurich University of the Arts. Only later it turned from musical project to a full-fledged rock band. According to Farzad, Persrock is still a project for him. A project on a global scale which aims to open a new window in the music scene as well as create an alternative bridge for those who are interested in persian music with taste of rock. A combination of powerful oriental literature and immense western music. Persrock’s musical influences include U2, Foo Fighters, Kings of Leon, Coldplay and Muse. Also some lyrical influences include Bob Dylan, John Lennon and Roger Waters. The lyrics were written in persian by Yaghma Golrouee, one of the most celebrated poets in Iran and Farzad Alipur himself. Persrock’s self-titled debut deals with varied topics such as social norms and freedom of thought.
