It ended where it all began.. Posted on December 4, 2013 Last Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, a local band gave thanks to its fans at a their last show. Otis and the Alligators is a local Progressive Blues and Jazz band that has been playing music for almost 27 years. They recently played their final show at the Encore right here on campus, the very place they played their first show. Alligators The band consisted of six members. Front man Otis McLennon plays a powerful Harmonica and has a strong vocal ability. He also plays the guitar from time to time. “I have been a fan for years of Otis and the Alligators, I’m sad to hear they are done.” -Yolanda Cruz-Chamberlain Ms. Cruz-Chamberlain of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin personally knows McLennon and has been following his music since the 1995. “I really wish I could have made his last show, I’ll miss the fun times”, said Cruz-Chamberlain. Her husband Jon Chamberlain introduced her to Otis and the Alligators while scouting bands for a local festival, and ever since then they have have been self proclaimed groupies. For years they followed him on tour and began a relationship with McLennon. “Every time we would arrive for a show he would always say hi and seemed genuinely excited to see us”, said Chamberlain. After speaking with McLennon over the phone I found him genuine and friendly. Fans of his found him the same way.
