Otilio Galíndez, ( December 13, 1935 - June 13, 2009) was a Venezuelan musician and composer. From an early age Galindez demonstrated musical inclinations, and supported by his mother in song and poetry in 1957 he was brought to Caracas where he worked at the Central University of Venezuela. The young composer of fine music stood out quickly. Among the composers works were waltzes, serenades, bambucos and joropos, like: Pueblos Tristes, Flor de Mayo, Mi Tripón, and many others. His songs have been interpreted by the popular Venezuelans singers, such as Simón Díaz, Soledad Bravo, Lilia Vera, Cecilia Todd, and by other recognized figures of Latin America, such as Silvio Rodríguez, Pablo Milanés and Mercedes Sosa.
