Osmani Soundz originally started out as Osmani Knights in 1988 as a Sound System and a Collective of Djs , Rappers , Dancers and Graphics Artists based in Londons East End. Working through their local youth club PYO (Progressive Youth Organisation) at the Davenant Centre (Whitchapel), they established themselves organising partys in Youth Clubs,Colleges ,Schools around the East End… aswell as Dj workshops with young people of the area. By the late 80’s Osmani Soundz Dj sets were about experimenting and mixing with old 12’’ - 7” records ranging from Classical Indian, Bollywood soundtracks and Baul Music and combining them with Hip Hop, Acid House,Techno dance music. In 1993 The Osmani Soundz Collective held their fortnightly club night called The Ancient Gallery at the Bass Clef which later became the infamous Blue note – Hoxton shoreditch. By 1994 Shohid (Osmani Soundz) had produced one of the very first Asian Drum and Bass track titled “ Spiritual Masterkey ” featured on the cultural fusion CD which released as a community music project. Than in 1996 “Spiritual Masterkey” was re-released for the Anokha - Soundz of the Asian Underground compilation album compiled by Talvin Singh. The response of the album was Phenomenal. This lead on to him representing Anokha as a resident Dj at the legendary weekly Sessions at the Blue note – Hoxton. Osman Soundz was well known for playing some exciting and memorable sets back then using a Mini disc player,Portable cd player and 2 x 12
