For an outfit with only two singles to their name, OrtzRoka have stridden through 2007 like emerging giants, leaving accolade after accolade in their wake. As well as being tipped by Dj Magazine as artists to most likely have "Major Impact in 2008" alongside Booka Shade, Moby and Deadmau5, the future will be an exciting one. Cited for their musical eloquence and influences that range from film and architecture to Noam Chomsky and Detroit techno, their remixes for Simian Mobile Disco, NME faves Peter, Bjorn & John, Robyn, Bloc Party, and The Dub Pistols, have afforded them the kind of acclaim that most young artists can only dream of. Heralded by the dance press and influential media such as Fluokids, Channel 4 Music, and Popjustice, they’ve received huge support from musician and DJ folk as varied as Busy P, New Young Pony Club, Laurent Garnier, Erol Alkan, Justin Robertson, Ewan Pearson, Prins Thomas, Rob Da Bank, People Are Germs and Ivan Smagghe. While they make machines sound beautiful in the manner of Kraftwerk, Booka Shade, vintage Kenny Larkin, and the Belleville Three, OrtzRoka have a thoroughly modernist aesthetic. Not for them the bleepy rehashes of outdated ‘minimal’ techno from the early 90’s.
