As a child, Orlando grew up listening exclusively to video game music. He was thrilled by the sense of escapism and immersion that it provided him. However, he had never thought of actually becoming a musician until playing Chrono Cross. Inspired by the game's soundtrack, he started learning the viola, and composing on the side. Over time, he became more immersed in playing the viola and rarely composed, seeking to become a professional classical musician. However, after his high school performed one of his compositions "The Epic" and the audience reacted more enthusiastically to it than his performance of a viola concerto in the same concert, he first began to question his career path. He continued to pursue the viola for many years, until he developed tendinitis and soon realized that playing viola wasn't his true calling. In December of 2011 Orlando began focusing exclusively on composing and began writing music for a conceptual video game. His experience as a classical musician aided him greatly, as he was influenced by a variety of composers. Orlando's goal is to bring video game music to a higher level of complexity, employing certain techniques found in classical music such as counterpoint and advanced tonality. His greatest influences are Johann Sebastian Bach, Richard Strauss, Ludwig van Beethoven, Yasunori Mitsuda, Jeremy Soule, and Koji Kondo.
