Oritus is an Band from India. Despite not having a clue as to what their name means, Oritus certainly have a very definite idea of what they’re doing with regard to their music. It’s been just over a year since a merry bunch of musicians came together from various aggregations to form Oritus. At a time when the musical climate dictated bands to ditch the guitar solo and adopt a fetish for low-slung jeans and high strung lyrics, these Delhi boys were quite content penning dangerously cheerful ditties with sing-along choruses, vocal harmonies and, blasphemy of all blasphemies, multiple guitar solos! With bassist Ram and drummer Anshul forming the backbone a tight-as-a-noose rhythm section, they form the ideal soundscape for vocalist Aditya’s Eddie Vedder-esque incantations and the shred unit, Baan and Tridib, to blaze their way through with delightful guitar licks and solos. Musical virtuosity apart, Oritus have also honed to a nicety the art of crafting a song or two.
