In the mid-2000s, indie rock band One Mississippi quietly existed within the chaotic, ever-evolving music scene of Austin, TX, United States. Blending punk rock energy with a collaborative 'old Austin' spirit, the band featured members from groups like Molecular Steve, Damnations and Grand Champeen. Their time together was short, from 2003 to 2008. That might’ve been the end of their story, if not for vocalist and guitarist Ron Byrd's unwavering belief in the band’s unreleased, self-titled album. In 2023, Byrd reconnected with longtime friend and Strolling Bones Records owner George Fontaine Sr., who declared it "the best unreleased indie rock record I’ve ever heard." The long-lost One Mississippi was finally released in May 2025. One Mississippi is... Rob Bernard (guitar, vocals), Ron Byrd (guitar, vocals), Carlos Orozco (keys, vocals), Conrad Choucron (drums) and Alex Livingstone (bass, vocals).
