Omad Poisid ('Our Own Guys') is an Estonian-American folk band formed in the late 1970s, in Baltimore, MD. Formed when a featured soloist from New York City failed to appear for a performance at the Baltimore Estonian House, the group was introduced as "'...a special surprise from our own guys!' The name stuck." The band has a unique sound that combines American folk of the 1960s and '70s with traditional Estonian folk songs and melodies. Four of the six band members sing, providing a rich landscape of harmonies; five of the six each play a number of instruments, ranging from the more common guitar, bass guitar and harmonica to the fiddle, tuba, alto horn, banjo, mandolin and conga drums. Omad Poisid performed a number of times at ethnic festivals and events in Baltimore, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Chicago and Toronto. The band recorded their sole, self-titled album in Baltimore in the summer of 1979. The original lineup consisted of Peeter Saar, Paul Saar, Karl Peets, Uku Peets, Pēteris Alunāns, and a sixth member credited only as 'üks sõber' ('a friend').
