As a freelance session bass player Ollie Collins’ resume lists performance, writing and studio credits with a list of diverse artists such as: Alan Parsons, New Order, Branford Marsalis, Kenny Thomas and Corrine Bailey Rea. As an artist in his own right, Ollie has recently released his second studio album “A New Direction”. The record consists of mainly original instrumental music fronted by lead bass and Saxophone, with occasional vocals performed by Ollie. Influences are drawn from Todd Rundgren, Stanley Clarke, Parliament-Funkadelic and Thomas Dolby. Ollie’s six piece Band “Subterranea” features some of the finest musicians from Manchester and London. Unusually the group’s line-up includes two Bass guitars as well as baritone saxophone, guitar, keyboards and percussion.
