Okoumé was a group that existed from 1995 to 2002. It was composed of Jonathan Painchaud, Éloi Painchaud, Hugo Perreault, Michel Duguay, Éric Gosselin, Frédéric Lebrasseur and Patrice Painchaud (occasional participation). The band started playing under the name Kababousté at a contest organized by Cégep F.-X. Garneau in 1994. Then it changed its name for Okoumé when a radio station in Quebec City organized another contest. Many Okoumé's songs toped charts in the whole Quebec Province. They also appeared some times in Europe and in the United States. They disbanded in 2002. Jonathan and Éloi Painchaud continued they musical career as soloists.
