Odeal is a German-born British-Nigerian singer/songwriter. Odeal's music is a blend of Afrobeats, R&B, and U.K. dance and rap music, informed by his "nomadic life" and cross-cultural upbringing. He began writing and producing music during his time in a Nigerian boarding school, a period which introduced him to artists like Fela Kuti, Burna Boy, and Wizkid. Upon arriving back in the U.K. in 2017, he became known as leading the U.K. variant of the alté scene, linking him with Nigerian artists like Odunsi (The Engine) and other British artists like Gabzy. In addition to artistic influences, Odeal's music is expressly political, informed by the global movement for Black Lives and various pan-African political traditions.
