OPOPO have crafted an act that energizes audiences with raw force. Their electric tones and driving beats were designed for the club, and their rhythms always spark the party. The three blend synthesizers with guitars and bass, while looping vocals and screams shake the dance floor. Their tunes are progressive electro powered by rock. Days have been spent exploring electronics, and sessions from their jams have been recorded, spliced and fragmented into an intricate sound map- with home production and studio sessions meeting in the middle. It was these intense periods of focus that produced their self-titled OPOPO EP. All 6 tracks are hardwired with layers that delve deep, but it is the relentless beat that remains the locus of their control. Through climactic beats and ominous tones, OPOPO transforms their venue into an electric night with the three rumbling at the epicenter. The members of the group (Bryan vocals/guitar, Corey vocals/synth, Craig vocals/bass guitar) met underground nearly a decade ago. They have worked together on many musical projects, including a ska band in high school. Super TA, as it was called, gave them a taste for playing Toronto gigs and developed their ability to work together musically at an early stage. They played such venues as the Opera House, The Reverb, and the Comfort Zone. They disbanded in 2002 after a solid two year run and remained good friends and artistic partners.
