OpenMic Radio has always evolved over the years, the broadcasting of the shows first started in 2005, when Oliver Newport built a website with Freewebs, but it wasn’t always called OpenMic Radio, in the ages were streaming radio were coming more popular and “Web2.0″ growing wider, the platform called Flatcast was adopted for use, and was a hugely easy method of broadcasting the music people loved, sadly the downside was you had to download a plug-in, and also people can’t be a DJ for 24/7 so a newer format was formed, and that spawed OMR. Over the years, in fact every year OMR has had a site re-design, with the age of Wordpress it has become easy to do so, and before, was a difficult thing to do with HTML. The first website has fallen to the mights of bandwidth restrictions and the fact that it’s on a computer around 3 years old, and the second website you can see here. In 2005, OpenMic Radio adopted the first methords of Podcasting, and this is the time it was about to become popular, and hosted all of the podcast’s on different file sharing sites. The first editions were around 1-2 hours long, and had very bad audio, and were all recorded and then edited using Audacity, which is a very good free audio app. Eventfully OMR struck big with the first really famous guest Jay Foreman, who came on episode 5, fortunately the episode is lost amidst of different file sharing websites, but are still on a broken computer that were used to record them.
