Artist
Amsterdam-based Dutch singer, musician and songwriter, Margriet Sjoerdsma, released four albums and performed many concerts under her own name before choosing the moniker Odelion in 2019. Her début album, simply called Odelion (2019), was recorded in Norway at a small, remote, wooden house called 'Odelien', hence the name of her new project. Inspired by artists such as Tori Amos, Jeff Buckley and Ane Brun, Odelion's music is a jazzy brand of pop. Odelion's début album was produced by Tobias Fröberg. Odelion is a band, led by Sjoerdsma, who sings, but also plays the piano and occasionally guitar and ukelele. Also in the band are Michelle Courtens (cello), Arie Storm (guitar), Cord Heineking (bass) and Willem van der Krabben (drums). 2020 saw the release of the album Northern Lights: the Odelion album re-imagined orchestrally, under the moniker Odelion Orchestra.
