O Sister!. The New Thirties. O Sister! is an homage to the popular American music from the thirties and the golden Dixie and Swing era in general. A period when jazz was popular music par excellence, when the genre hadn’t got that intellectual nuance that it has today, but it was a music for dancing and having fun, the music from the street. The project pays tribute as well to The Boswell Sisters, women trio pioneer in vocal jazz music, that didn’t maybe achieve the popularity they deserved, but were later imitated by many vocal music groups, and also admired by many artists as important as Ella Fitzerald. The contemporary and surprising style of Boswell’s music, in spite of the passage of time, the way of understanding the harmony and vocal resources of the Boswell Sisters was what leads Paula Padilla, group founder, to work for bringing to our time the magic of that way of doing music. From that moment on, O Sister! creates its owns arrangements and reinvents the splendour of vocal jazz music from a recreational, amusing and live show perspective, with a meticulous and elegant staging.
