about

Nuno Canavarro (born 1962) is a Portuguese composer who is known for his influential experimental recording: "Plux Quba - Música para 70 Serpentes" released on the Portuguese label Ama Romanta in 1988, originally limited to 200 vinyl only pressings. It's a work of subtle, discrete electronic ambience made of "concrete" events and dreamy whispers. This record was a strong influence on the sound of many postmodern electronic musicians, including Mouse On Mars and Jim O'Rourke, the latter of whom re-released Plux Quba on his own Moikai label in 1999, which was also its first release on CD. Little more is known about Nuno Canavarro, except that he was a former member/keyboardist of an early 80's band called Street Kids. Later recordings include Mr Wollogallu (Uniao Lisboa, 1991), a collaboration with Carlos Maria Trindade, and several film soundtracks.
