Nurana project exists since 2000 and the group’s concert activities began in 2002. Today, this quintet includes the Honored Artist of Turkmenistan, saxophonist Sabir Rizaýew, the People’s Artist of Turkmenistan, percussionist and drummer virtuoso Şamyrat Myradow, who created the project together with Mihail Çariýew, the team leader. The younger generation is represented by talented keyboardist Merdan Bäşimow. The group's music is jazz and blues interpretation of tunes, rooted in the tonal and rhythmic structure of Turkmen folk music. The members of the team are winners of international competitions and festivals, participants of Peter Gabriel’s ethnic projects, participants of Zildjian Day in Moscow and many o Igor Butman, a world-famous saxophonist, composer and band leader about Nurana: "Nurana is the name of an art team that can be rightly regarded as an original phenomenon of the contemporary musical culture of Turkmenistan and, along with it, a successor of the best traditions of the Turkmen instrumental music.
