Notice to Airmen consists of five friends from Northern Stockholm. They have all known each other since childhood and have played in various bands, but never together - until now. Through strange detours the band got access to an old abandoned aircraft hangar just outside Stockholm to use as a rehearsal space (hence the name "Notice to Airmen"). Perhaps it is because of this giant premise that the band's music sounds the way it does? A void of thousands of cubic meters of air allows for epic soundscapes. The music revolves around melodic pop, but arrangements are strongly influenced by post-rock and arena-rock with elements of ambient. Bands that might come to mind are "Mew", "Explosions in the Sky", "Coldplay" and "Bon Iver". The combination gives a sound that is powerful, grandiose and epic yet sometimes mellow and lyrical. The songs oscillate between quiet parts and crescendos of brute force. Or in pretentious terms, the sound reflects the view from mountain tops, the endlessness of deserts, the emptiness in a vacuum and the silence after the war.
