Nosy Parker was founded in the early 1970's in Whitestone,Queens,New York City by guitarists Joe Celano and Tom Viola. Going electric in 1975, Bill Viola and Tony Abbate were added on drums and bass. The group recorded their eponymous album in a 2-day session at a friend's home studio, and pressed 500 copies complete with lyric sheet. The group had a folk-rock style marked by distinctive 12-string and psych-rock playing. Some have called the band's sound "baroque pop", "psych-folk" and "prog-rock". The group was actually a bit of each, and very different from other New York City bands at that time. Over 25 years after the album's pressing, Gear Fab Records remastered and reissued the Nosy Parker recordings on CD with two bonus tracks found on a cassette tape.
